Spey Trutina Single Malt Whisky Review | Standard Bottling Vs Cask Strength

Join me as I return back to Scotland by reviewing the Spey Trutina Single Malt Scotch Whisky, comparing the standard release of 46% ABV against the cask strength expression at 59% ABV. I’m keen to see what flavours are present in both proofs, to see if watering the whisky down to a standard bottling strength eliminated the best flavours, or let the whisky truly shine. These whiskies are advertised as limited releases, though I did note some inconsistency between the total number of bottles listed on the bottle compared to previous releases. While the distillery is relatively new (by Scottish whisky standards) the family producing Spey Whisky has a long history in the whisky industry, with offshoots of the family actually starting the original Bruichladdich Distillery. I should also mention, the whisky was given to me by Sarah from Cask Trade so that I could do a review.
