Hellyers Road have released a stunning 20 Year Old American Oak single cask, and I can honestly say I did not expect the flavour profile to be this fruit-driven. This is Hellyers Road American Oak 20YO – Cask 4253.04, affectionately nicknamed “The Peaches Cask”… and after tasting it, I completely understand why. The peach note in this whisky is absolutely unmistakable — I have never come across such a clear tasting note that is so defined on the nose, palate and finish. ⏱ Chapters 00:21:26 – Skip Intro 00:46:29 – Whisky overview & specs 02:47:00 – Whisky pour 04:01:25 – Nose 05:23:07 – Palate 06:47:15 – Finish 07:19:00 – Comparing distillery tasting notes 08:25:08 –Adding water I'm Nath Martyn, The Whisky Scribe! About This Video

In this review I crack into Hellyers Road American Oak 20 Year Old Single Cask 4253.04—affectionately dubbed “The Peaches Cask”—and it genuinely stops me in my tracks. This one spent two decades in a single American oak ex-bourbon cask, comes in at 52.8% ABV, and was released as just 179 bottles. I talk through the specs, the presentation (including that locally handcrafted Tasmanian oak box), and why it’s such a big deal seeing properly aged Australian whisky starting to appear more often. Then we get to the fun part: the tasting. On the nose there’s a lovely vanilla-and-oak balance at first, but once I lean in and breathe properly, it’s peach—distinctly peach—like nothing I’ve come across this clearly across nose, palate, and finish. On the palate it’s peach front-and-centre with hints of brown sugar, oak, and even a grilled pineapple vibe, yet it drinks softer than you’d expect for bottle strength. I also compare my notes to the distillery’s, add a splash of water (hello, Anzac-biscuit energy), and wrap on why whisky is equal parts science, art, and luck—because you couldn’t recreate this peach bomb on demand.
