Comparing Morris Whisky Tokay Barrel with the Morris Wine Grand Topaque from the same barrel

Have you ever had the chance to compare a whisky with what was in the barrel before the whisky? This week I’m comparing the new Morris Whisky Tokay Barrel with the Morris Wines Grand Topaque that spent 15 years in the barrel before the whisky replaced it. As a whisky lover who also enjoys fortified wines I have ALWAYS wanted to compare a whisky with the port, sherry, muscat or whatever was previously in the barrel. I wanted to see what made it from the wine, into the wood, then back into the whisky. This was a great experiment with surprising results. Although it can be difficult to find the exact wine that was previously in the barrel in which some whiskies are aged, with Morris Whisky you have the added benefit of knowing the barrels come from Morris Wines.
