About This Video

Warhammer is absolutely everywhere right now, and Games Workshop’s IP is popping up in all sorts of places… including the thing I never asked for: Warhammer 40,000 Monopoly. So in this video, Jeff and I subject ourselves to the “speed” ruleset (three properties before you even start, buying on the first lap, paying to get out of jail) and see whether it’s actually worth your money, or just another cosmetic reskin with some Aquila-shaped sprinkles on top. Gameplay-wise, it’s still Monopoly: the same swingy nonsense where you’re either fine or you’re completely boogered, and the only real strategy is “don’t land on the bit where your mate has built a death alley.” We had a laugh roleplaying the setting—Inquisition jokes, T’au rent extortion, plague planets “with a view but it smells bad,” and the grim truth that in the far future there are only landlords—but that humour is doing a lot of heavy lifting. My honest takeaway after editing? If you already own Monopoly, don’t buy this. It doesn’t bring anything new, it’s not an upgrade, and it’s still the same game you drag out once a year at Christmas just to remember how much you hate it. Borrow it off a friend if you’re curious. I landed around a 4.5–5/10: a bit of a laugh, but the game itself is rubbish.
