I’m constantly on the lookout for that one magic hobby product that hides my inadequacies while making my paint jobs look better — and this time Jeff came back from Adepticon with a pile of stencils from Anarchy Models. In this video I test a few different types: the more traditional stencils you stick down and airbrush over, plus their HD sticker stencil system that’s basically a boatload of pre-cut masks for things like digital camo and hex patterns. First up, I try the classic stencil approach on a big flat Demon Prince wing. The results are genuinely decent and way quicker than doing it by hand, but keeping the stencil secure is a pain in the ass — even with blue tac — and any airbrush hiccup becomes extra annoying when you’re physically holding the stencil in place. Then I attempt orange speckles on a smaller Kroot-style model and, honestly, it’s a lot harder: you’re covering the mini, it’s tough to see what you’re doing, and thin paint means higher risk of bleeding. Where it really shines is the sticker stencil system on a Rhino side panel: bright-to-dark layers, peel the masks, and you get that super satisfying reveal. It’s bold, fast, and would be an absolute nightmare by hand — niche, sure, but if you’re in that niche, it’s a cracking tool.
