About This Video

I’m back from Golden Demon in Germany (Essen/Spiel) with Geoff and Ross, and honestly… it was a bit bonkers in the best way. We chat through what it was like being there while it all went down: the sheer scale of Spiel (it makes other cons feel tiny), how Games Workshop had the Warhammer area laid out, and the reality of trying to actually view Golden Demon cabinets when it’s rammed. Day one was tight because paint-and-take and the entry queue were fighting for the same space, but GW clocked it and fixed it with a zig-zag queue, which made a massive difference. Behind the scenes, we also had the classic convention chaos: stock issues, thinking on our feet, and the absolute heroes who helped us out. Titan Forge lent us a minibus to go and collect pallets, and the Artis Opus crew literally got Keith on a plane with stock. On top of that, we talk about meeting loads of painters, the vibe being genuinely positive, and why I’ve got huge respect for the Golden Demon photography team—shooting around a thousand entries (multiple angles each) is no joke, especially when you’re trying to capture subtle white-on-white work like Andy Wardle’s Lazarus piece. It’s hobby talk, event reality, and a proper debrief on why Golden Demon was awesome—even when it’s hectic.
