In this video I’m basically asking the question I think a lot of hardware teams should be asking right now: what is Altium doing in 2026, and why are these changes being “soft launched” like nobody’s supposed to notice? I walk through what I’m seeing directly on Altium’s site—especially Altium Develop—and I break down what it actually includes, how it plugs into Altium Designer, and why I think this is one of the smartest moves Altium has made (assuming they keep executing the way it looks like they are). I show the big pillars inside Develop: project management (tasks, deadlines, visibility), requirements (the real game changer), supply chain/BOM intelligence, manufacturing handoff tools (Gerber import/checking, assembly assistance, packaging outputs), and managed data/library health. I also talk candidly about why this matters in real industrial workflows: in 2019 I watched teams burn through multiple $50k respins because requirements weren’t tied to design decisions and BOM/supply chain management was treated like an engineer’s “side quest.” Finally, I cover pricing as it’s presented: roughly $995/year for Develop and $995/year per Altium Designer author, with Workspace required—so think about $1,990/year to get the full “Designer + Develop wings” experience.
