The smaller three units collapse and stack together on top of the larger "tool tray". The magnets on the bottom work in both directions, so in addition to holding screws, parts and tools inside the tray, the tray itself will stick to workbenches, vehicles, metal walls, etc. The magnets are strong enough to hold screws, nuts and small bolts even in a vertical orientation. If a tool is "flat" enough so that most of it touches the magnet, it will even hold things like box head wrenches and pliers vertically.
