The main back panel feels more solid/rigid than other flexible phone cases I've used in the past, so I think the "dual layer" indicates that there is some type of harder plastic inside the back of the case. The sides/corners that grip the phone are flexible however. The cameras are well protected inside a depression on the back of the case. There is a (relatively small) lip around the entire screen, so as long as it falls on a flat surface and not a sharp corner the case should contact first before the face of the phone. The cutouts for the USB port, speakers, microphone and cameras are all spot on and perfectly centered and sized. I was able to plug in a USB-C cable with a very large plug with no problems. The button covers are partially cut out so that they move very well and it's not at all difficult to activate the power and volume buttons with the case on. Wireless charging worked just fine through the case material. The back panel is entirely textured for grip. The side panels and top are mostly smooth, but do have two smaller "grip" texture areas near the bottom. I personally would have liked to see the grip texture extend all the way around the sides and top of the phone, but so far I haven't had any issues with holding onto the phone in the case. Overall I'm happy with the case. It's not quite minimalist (due to the "dual layer" it's slightly thicker than some other flexible rubber cases, but not by much) as it gives a good balance of protection without adding too much bulk.
