The speaker inside was plenty loud and as clear as you can expect for such a small size, and the audio it transmitted from the mic sounded clear. (I did not test the 3.5mm earphone jack.) The PTT button makes a small tactile click so it is clear when you have keyed up the transmitter. It has a detachable upward facing clip for the back that can clip to an epaulet / shoulder loop. Most of the unit is plastic, but the clip has metal (some stainless, some not). It claims an IP54 rating which offers limited protection against dust and is protected from water splashes from any direction, but I wouldn't call it waterproof, so you probably want to avoid heavy rain. It also fit the rear of my uSDX+ radio with plenty of room to still activate the power switch.
