[The black comes off on your hands, but may provide some water resistance.] I like the push button "click lock" for adjusting the spacing of the jaws. The button takes a decent amount of force to unlock and slide the jaws around, but I wasn't worried about them moving around on their own like sometimes happens when you open up a pair of channel locks too far. They are small pliers, meant for working in small places, with a maximum parallel jaw separation distance of 1 inch (25mm). The handles are also small (4" total) which means you can really only get 3 fingers around the smaller one. This is still enough to put a lot of pressure to bear, but they do fit entirely inside your hands. They have a small hanging loop that can be used to attach a lanyard, but it isn't large enough for a standard pegboard hook. [I was able to hang them on a pegboard by using the center hole.] The V-groove in the jaws works very well for gripping hex head bolts (because I'm sure you will eventually use them as a wrench), and the ends of the jaws have cross lines to enhance their grip and provide friction. (I was able to easily grip and pull out the broken off ends of large staples using the tips of the pliers). Overall I'm happy with them, but might get the silver color next time, as I suspect the black residue on my hands after using them is the paint coming off.
