Review: SEKGHY cordless reciprocating saw 20v 5Ah battery $99

If you just clamp the trigger down, it will run (no load) for about 45 minutes. (And it didn't overheat when I tested the runtime that way.) The charger takes slightly over 2 hours to refill the battery, drawing 48 watts max from the wall plug while doing so. From empty, the charger took 80 watt hours to refill the battery. [The battery claims to be a 5Ah, 20 volt max battery, but that would suggest a 100 Wh capacity, so I suspect the battery nominal rating is actually closer to 18 volts & 4 Ah.] I also have their drill/driver, which comes with two 2 Ah batteries, and the 2 AH battery will drive the saw just fine (with reduced total runtime) and they share the same charger. The sticker on the back of the charger appears to have several mistakes in the specifications. It lists it as a "200-240" volt, and 50 hz charger, but it came with a US 120 volt plug and ran fine off of my 120 volt outlet at 60 Hz. I suspect the charger is really a universal 100-240 volt charger that can work at 50 or 60 hz, but I didn't test this. The balance with the 5 Ah battery is very slightly forward (blade down) but not uncomfortably so to carry around. [And it will stand "upright" using the battery as a base.] While it's advertised as a "one-handed" saw, there is an area before the blade with a guard where you can place a second hand to stabilize the saw or place more downward force on the blade. While you can use it one handed, it may be less stable and skip around as you start your cut. It feels solid and well made, the trigger gives stepless speed control over the blade speed (although you will probably be holding it at the highest speed setting unless you are just starting to create a notch). Power wise it doesn't compare to my corded "full size" reciprocating saw (the overall top speed of the blade feels about 3/4 of what my corded one delivers) but it gets the job done and can cut through a pressure treated 2x4 in 18 seconds.
