The length is convenient for burning weeds at ground level without having to bend over, and the handle is comfortable to use. To start it up, you only need a very small amount of propane flowing, so don't turn up the knob until after you use the push button spark igniter. I wouldn't recommend it for long run-times or large areas (as it will burn through the propane in one of those small tanks relatively quickly, and possibly freeze the tank up if you run it too quickly). I think this guy is best for "point" treatments when you don't want to carry around a larger tank. I use it on weeds near the water front where I don't want to use herbicides. The silver metal end gets very hot (as you would expect) so you should be prepared to hang it up using the hole on the handle, or place it on rocks or concrete where the heat won't hurt anything until it cools down. There is no child lock, so it's up to you to keep this very interesting flame thrower out of irresponsible hands.
