The three battery chargers inside operate independently (the only internal connection is at the 120v AC power input side) and can charge lead acid or LiIon 12v batteries. They correctly detect a short circuit and a reverse polarity battery and refuse to charge. While the device is labeled as a marine battery charger with IP68 protection, I found that if I left it underwater for 1 minute (only 1-2 feet down) water seeped into the case (I believe around the mode buttons) and got inside. The case itself is almost completely filled with a silicone rubber like potting compound. Unfortunately, the potting compound did not go all the way to the top of the case, so it didn't go around the mode buttons or cover the circuit boards. After soaking, one of the three chargers was misbehaving (the mode button wouldn't change the mode and it had a red flashing warning light) but the other two worked well in my testing. After moving the case around, the water moved around, and the next time I plugged it in I heard two large sharp cracks and two of the chargers stopped working. After I took it apart, I found drops of water around the circuit boards and signs of sparking / arcing inside on the PCBs where the water had shorted things out. Eventually, two of the 3 chargers started working after I dried them out, but the third one was dead. So my device, while valiantly attempting to be waterproof, was not waterproof. The actual charger modules appear to work well (if they don't get wet).
