If your camera is in bulb mode, the controller can trigger long exposure images with 1 second precision (1 sec minimum, but up to hours and minutes maximum). You can program a delay before it starts (H:M:S) and then an (H:M:S) interval between each exposure. You can do between 1-999 photos, or set it to "---" mode where it won't stop until the camera dies or fills the memory card. The remote range for line of sight purposes is at least 50 feet (probably a lot more) but if you get a block wall between the receiver and transmitter they may lose connection. Each unit has it's own rechargeable battery that is charged via a USB-C port (they include a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. The receiver unit also has a shutter button, so can be used as an off-camera wired remote trigger, although the provided "coil" cable is only a few feet long. The package comes with both USB-C and MicroUSB style shutter cables for various different Sony cameras. These cables are both slightly too short (for wired use) and slightly too long (they hang around and get in the way a bit for on-camera receiver use). The receiver unit mounts with the cable facing off the back of the camera and makes the camera viewfinder a bit hard to use, but typically you would be using the rear screen with the camera on a tripod, so that isn't a show-stopping issue. I found it relatively easy to program and use, the controls are simple enough that you can probably figure them out without opening the large folded instruction sheet.
