Each lamp has two LED lights, one facing up and one facing down, that have adjustable plastic covers which allow you to widen or narrow the light they project onto the wall. These are accent lights, but they do put out enough light to see by, and would make bright nightlights. I'm using them inside of a closet that doesn't have a wired light so that anytime the doors open the lights turn on and you can see what's on the shelves. Each lamp has an integrated battery that can run it for 17.5 hours continuously in my test. They take 18 Wh of power to re-charge the battery, and charge up in under 7 hours. The brackets stay on the wall, but the lights can be lifted up and off easily to take them elsewhere for charging. The remote control can be used to turn them on/off or put them into "auto" mode where they turn on when they see motion. [It can also control the brightness, or set them to automatically turn off after 10/20/30 minutes.] There is also a switch on the bottom of each lamp that can be used to cycle through motion activated mode, continuous on mode, or off, so if you can't find the remote you still have basic functionality available. They were easy to install, fit flush with the wall, and look good even though they are made of plastic. The price feels very reasonable for the functionality you get.
