The 949D (Deluxe) is basically a slightly larger version of the 941E (Non-delux) which includes a larger cross-needle meter, the addition of a "peak/average" meter function, and a built in dummy load. The case is about the same width/length, but is a little bit taller. From a tuning functionality standpoint, just about all of the MFJ Versa Tuner II line works exactly the same (2 variable capacitors and a switched inductor), but the larger gauge with peak/average options is a nice upgrade. [I also found it to be slightly more sensitive at the low end, allowing you to tune the SWR a bit lower. [The 941E was fine, I could easily get down to a 1.1 SWR using the built in meter, but the 949D allows me to get closer to a 1.0 SWR without having to use a more sensitive external meter.] You can also see my 941D vs 941E comparison video here: https://youtu.be/l2GdXUbkaiA
