I used a RAKwireless WisBlock Mini Meshtastic Starter Kit US915 (Mini Starter Kit with RAK19003 Base), a MuziWorks 915Mhz antenna, two connection plugs with wires attached and a lot of hotglue. As the USB-C connector is to the top, the larger of the two connectors on the right side of the board is for the 3.7 volt LiIon battery, positive cable to the LEFT (should be marked with red marker on the side of the receptacle). The plug is: JST PH (2mm spacing) The smaller of the two connectors (on the left side of the board is the solar panel connector, requires a solar panel of 6 volts MAXIMUM (NO 12 Volt panels! It will fry the circuit!) Solar panel connector: ZHR-2 (JST) 1.5mm Note that positive connection is to the RIGHT side (opposite of the battery connector) and should also be marked with a red marker. Amazon Affiliate links to the parts: $32 RAK WisBlock Mini kit: https://amzn.to/4gzr8BJ (includes bluetooth chip antenna, LoRa chip antenna, LoRa SMA bulkhead connector and stubby antenna, plus a USB A to C cable for power/programming) I bought mine from ROKLAND in Florida for fast shipping (as I live in Florida), but if you have a prime membership Amazon is probably going to ship about the same speed to anywhere in the US and is a few dollars cheaper. $13 MuziWorks 915Mhz Meshtastic US/AU Antenna: https://amzn.to/4268RGp (The best small whip antenna I've found so far!) The Wifi secrity camera that failed because water got inside is the VIZIUUY solar outdoor 2K camera. I had three of these cameras, and the other two are still working great. I don't really recommend you rip apparent a working camera just to make a meshtastic node, but you can get a two pack for $40. They have a solar panel on only one side, so best if you mount it via the 1/4-20 thread on the back with the solar panel facing up. https://amzn.to/4noyVVJ If you are looking to buy a "solar + battery + waterproof" enclosure to hang from a tree/line or strap vertically to a pole, I recommend this guy, which has solar panels on all three sides and much more serious waterproofing (In fact, you'll struggle to open it up to put the RAK mini kit inside...) https://amzn.to/46AnH9r I've seen them as low as $17 from Chinese sellers. [My next video will be showing how I converted the above Solar Beacon into a Meshtastic node in much the same way.] Hot Glue: https://amzn.to/46MJUT0 UV Cure Resin (glue the batteries to the case and cover up the speaker holes): https://amzn.to/46uB62D Where I got the cables from: Solar panel cables: https://www.ebay.com/itm/388764032462 Battery cables (NOTE, the black and red wires are in the wrong positions, but it physically fits just fine.. so when you attach it to the battery you'll find yourself soldering a red wire to a black wire, which feels very wrong.) https://www.ebay.com/itm/383731259229
