About This Video

In this video I review the Epomaker CarbonX, a brand new budget carbon fiber mouse that’s almost perfect out of the box—and then I basically made it perfect. I go through the unboxing, first impressions, and why the shape feels unique (not a straight clone). To my eye it’s kind of like a higher hump vibe with different side tapers, and size-wise it’s close to the Superlight 2C. For me, it can work with palm, claw, and even fingertip (especially for bigger hands), but I still wish the back was a bit longer. I cover the key stuff: 46g real weight (they advertised ~50g but it’s actually lighter), premium rubberized/grippy coating, and a hole design that avoids side holes (they learned from the Beast X issue). The main reason I’ve been maining it for a week is the click implementation—Omron opticals done right, with basically no side play, sharp feel, and no post-travel. The sensor implementation (3950) is also 10/10, and the Nordic 52840 MCU is crazy to see at this price. But it’s not perfect: the stock skates are thin and scratchy (you can feel the bottom holes on a soft pad), and the weight balance is noticeably front-heavy because the battery sits in the middle/front area. I open it up, remove the black cardboard wrap that interferes with closing, and swap to Scyrox V6 PTFE skates—after that, glide becomes smooth, balance improves to like an 8/10, and it still stays at 46g. That’s why I’m calling it “almost perfect”… and why it’s now my main mouse.
