The Epomaker CarbonX is almost perfect for the price: 46g on my scale, a premium grippy rubberized coating, and a 10/10 Omron optical click implementation. Stock skates and the front-heavy balance hold it back, but with a quick tweak and better skates, it legitimately feels like it punches into the $130-tier experience.

Pros

  • +46g real weight (lighter than advertised)
  • +Excellent Omron optical click implementation (sharp, no post-travel)
  • +3950 sensor implementation felt flawless in-game
  • +Nordic 52840 MCU at a budget price
  • +Grippy premium-feeling coating
  • +No side holes (better than some competitors)

Cons

  • -Stock skates are thin and feel scratchy on soft pads
  • -Noticeably front-heavy weight balance out of the box
  • -Scroll steps feel a bit loose/not very defined
