This Ditoo Speaker from Divoom definitely has a weird aesthetic, but is it worth $100? About This Video

In this video I review the Divoom Ditoo (a.k.a. the “Ditoo” / “D2” in my footage), which is basically a wireless Bluetooth speaker that randomly decided it also wanted to be a tiny retro computer. You get a colorful 16x16 pixel display up top and a row of actual mechanical keys on the front (they’re Outemu blue switches), which is equal parts unnecessary and awesome. I unbox it, go over the build, and talk about the little details I appreciate—like the fact that Divoom includes a braided USB-C cable instead of sticking us with micro-USB. For sound, it honestly surprised me in a good way. It’s a top-firing speaker (not front-firing), but it still gets loud enough to fill a room, and the bass port on the back helps give it more low end. Connectivity was painless for me—pairing is just like any other Bluetooth device—and the range was solid enough that I could leave it in my office and still listen from my bedroom. Then there are the extras: built-in games (Tetris, Snake, Brick Breaker), a little audio monitor, and a whole app where you can change the clock, brightness, graphics, and even download other people’s pixel art. My takeaway: for around $100 (and often less with Amazon coupons), the pricing feels fair for a well-made, good-sounding speaker that also doubles as a quirky display piece or gift.
