About This Video

In this video I unbox and test a Kimafun 2.4G wireless microphone kit that got sent to my PO Box. I’m not being paid to endorse it—they sent it in exchange for a video—and I wanted to run it like I do with any gear: show what’s in the box, hook it up, and actually listen to the audio. The kit comes with a ton of little doodads: a headset mic, a lav mic, wind covers, a belt clip, a split charging cable, and multiple adapters (including USB and a bigger “pro” style jack adapter). The big takeaway is that my first tests were honestly terrible when I plugged the receiver straight into my computer’s headphone jack—it was basically trash and didn’t seem to pick up much unless the mic was right up on my mouth. After I switched the setup and ran the receiver through the USB dongle, it sounded way more decent, and the lav became usable. Even then, the volume felt low even at max level, so you’d probably have to boost it in editing. Overall, I’d call this a niche product: okay if you specifically want a cheap wireless headset/lav for calls or walking around on Zoom, but for video or gaming audio, I think you can do better for the money.
