The Skull & Co Jumpgate Dock is perhaps the perfect portable Nintendo Switch Dock. But will it brick my Switch? No, but here are my first impressions on it anyway. About This Video

In this video I’m checking out the Skull & Co Jumpgate Dock, which is basically a third-party Nintendo Switch dock that’s trying to solve the biggest problem with the official dock: it’s huge and annoying to travel with. The Jumpgate is way smaller, has a clean minimalist design, and it’s built around this “core drive” module that’s basically the brains of the whole setup. I unbox it, go over the ports (USB-C power in, HDMI out, and two USB 3.0 ports), and show the folding design that lets it lay flat for travel while still supporting the Switch so it’s not just hanging on the USB-C connector. The other big thing I cover is versatility. There’s a with-case/without-case setup so you can fit different Switch cases by removing a little pillar, and the core drive can also be used as a USB-C hub for a laptop since it includes SD and microSD card readers. Of course, I also address the “million dollar question”: will it brick your Switch? I’m not going to pretend I fully understand every technical detail behind past bricking issues, but I did my own first test on my current firmware (11.0.1) using the official Nintendo AC adapter—and it worked right away. My takeaway: super portable and genuinely useful, but I’d stick to the official Switch power adapter and keep an eye on firmware compatibility going forward.
