In this video I’m basically holding your hand into secondary school because year 7 can feel terrifying, and I don’t want you going in and making the same mistakes I did. I’m going into my final year and doing my GCSEs next year, so I’m sharing the tips I genuinely wish someone drilled into me early on. I talk about how years 7–9 are your time to enjoy yourself (because year 10 and 11 get serious fast), but also why you still need to stay on top of your academics and homework so you don’t build bad habits. I also chat about the “girly” side of it too: don’t change yourself drastically just to fit in, because maturity comes with experience and your school should actually help with transition. Friendship groups will change (that’s normal), so I explain how to make friends from your seating plan, how to keep primary friends close without forcing it, and why it’s best to choose people who align with your morals and your vibe. Finally, I’m big on safeguarding—if something’s off, you’re not a snitch for getting help. And please, come equipped with your pens and pencils because first impressions with teachers matter.
