About This Video

In this video I’m basically dumping all my it girl study tips that actually save your grades (and no, we’re not cramming). I’ve literally just come from school and I wanted to get straight into what’s been working for me as I’m getting closer to my GCSEs. My number one method is rewriting notes again and again and again, because you have to think while you write. I do it from my exam board specification so I’m not wasting time learning random stuff, and once I’m confident I’ve got the content, I switch into active recall with quizzes and flashcards. I also talk about using free online resources instead of relying on expensive textbooks. For UK students doing GCSEs/A-levels/IB, I mention Save My Exams and Seneca, and I also recommend just using your spec and searching up the exact content you need. Then there’s Anki — I didn’t really like it at first, but now I’m obsessed, especially for science. Image occlusion for diagrams is so good, and I like that you can do typed answers, cloze deletions, and even gamify it (but I still think you should personalise your cards). Finally, I swear by annotated past papers: do questions, and when you don’t know something, fill the gap, revisit the topic, and learn from it. And my favourite “make revision feel like a game” thing is a study roulette, so you can tick off topics and track your percentage without it feeling like a chore.
