About This Video

In this video I’m taking you with me for a real “day as a videographer” kind of project—no fancy setup, just me showing up, figuring it out, and getting the shots. It was for a nonprofit organization, so I did it for free, and honestly I’m totally fine with that because it lets me practice my filmmaking skills and build my portfolio. I packed the basics—camera, tripod, lights, monitor, filters—and then dealt with what we actually had on the day (including weather that looked nice… but yeah, it wasn’t). It ended up being mostly a handheld shoot with a few gimbal shots, and I spent time walking around, checking composition, and grabbing coverage. After that, we also did another day at a CrossFit place where my idea was to keep it simple: testimonial/interview shots and a quick intro video of the location. I’ll show you my minimal interview setup—Canon R10 with the Sigma 24-70 on a tripod, plus a diffuser instead of a softbox because the place was already bright and I just wanted a little more light on the subject. The big takeaway: the Canon R10 is a very capable camera for this kind of client work. I was able to create high-quality results, and at the end of the day, a client won’t care if you’re on Sony, Canon, Nikon—who cares—as long as you deliver.
