In this first vlog, I’m basically showing the real side of trying to build a freelance videography business—when stuff doesn’t go to plan. I went to a car dealership to offer social media videos, and I even said I’d do it for free because I don’t have enough example footage yet. But it was a straight-up “not right now.” Winter vibes, the location wasn’t looking great, and there was construction behind them, so they didn’t want any video—free or not. Instead of calling it a day, I pivoted. I grabbed my drone and went out to shoot landscape footage for my portfolio, because at the end of the day I still need to show what I can do. I found a windmill spot I’ve wanted to film for a while, parked as close as I could, and just started creating. The biggest takeaway is simple: you can’t give up. Clients won’t always call, some doors will close, but you still have to go out, shoot, make mistakes, and build experience—because that’s how you get to the “beautiful result” in the end.
