How to Transplant Your ChatGPT Brain into Claude (simple updated version)

Tried moving from ChatGPT to Claude and ran into a wall? So did a load of people who watched my last video on this. So I went back and figured out the simpler way. And honestly? Claude have actually made this ridiculously easy now with their built-in import tool. No data exports. No faff. Just copy a prompt, run it in ChatGPT, paste the results into Claude. Done. I'm going to walk you through the whole thing in this video, including how to handle your projects too (spoiler: that part's still a bit manual, but I'll show you exactly what to do). No word of a lie, it took me about 3 minutes.

About This Video

A couple of weeks ago I shared a way to move from ChatGPT to Claude, and I need to apologise a bit—because a lot of you hit roadblocks. Some exports were too big, some people never even received the ChatGPT export, and the whole thing turned into way more faff than it needed to be. So in this video I walk through the updated, simpler method that Claude has now made ridiculously easy. Instead of exporting data, I start inside Claude: Settings → Capabilities → “Import memory from other AI providers.” Claude gives you an optimized prompt to copy. You paste that prompt into ChatGPT, run it, then copy the output (ideally wrapped in a single code block) and paste it straight back into Claude to add to memory. Claude then merges that context with whatever you already have—identity, preferences, career info, workflows, the lot. No word of a lie, it took me about three minutes. The only annoying bit is projects. There’s still no clean “export project” button in ChatGPT, so you’re stuck manually downloading source files (docs, PDFs, etc.) and copy/pasting your project settings into Claude. But for migrating your “AI brain” (memories + context), the built-in Claude import tool is easily the best route right now.
