That’s why I made this beginner walkthrough of Claude Cowork—because if you’re only using Claude like a ChatGPT replacement, you’re missing the biggest recent upgrade. In this video I break down what Cowork actually is, why it’s different (Claude as the “brain” vs Cowork as the “hands”), and how to get set up step by step inside the Claude Desktop app. I show you how to install Claude Desktop, choose a safe folder to give access to (so it’s not poking around your whole computer), and run your first real task—like organizing a messy screenshots folder in minutes. Then I take it up a notch with an invoice demo: Cowork renames files, sorts them into monthly folders, and generates a spreadsheet/CSV with totals and a clean overview. Finally, I show how to enable web browsing with the Claude in Chrome extension, plus how connectors, plugins/skills, and Projects can turn Cowork into a proper workflow engine. I also cover the limitations you need to know: no memory across sessions, desktop-only, and the app has to stay open for tasks to keep running.
