About This Video

I’m looking at a monitor spec sheet that would’ve sounded fake like 2.5 years ago: 1440p, OLED, 500Hz… and it’s not even $1,000. This is the MSI MPG 272QP (the 1440p 500Hz QD-OLED), and I get why the top comment is always “no game can run that.” But plenty of the biggest esports titles absolutely can—Siege, CS, Rocket League, Overwatch, Valorant—especially if you’ve got something like a 7800X3D and at least an RTX 4080. The other comment is “you can’t even see 500Hz,” and I just don’t agree. To me, 240Hz to 500Hz is a very real jump in fluidity and responsiveness, with noticeably better motion clarity and target tracking. And the wild part: this is also the brightest OLED monitor I’ve tested—over 300 nits on a full white screen—plus it’s HDR True Black 500 certified. There are still QD-OLED quirks (text fringing, blacks lifting under strong overhead lighting), but at an MSRP around $850, it’s ridiculously competitive versus the 480Hz WOLED options from ASUS and LG.
