In this video, I’m walking you through how to outline your course modules and lessons without getting stuck in perfectionism. Before you write a single lesson, I want you to get crystal clear on the transformation: where your student is right now, and where you want them to be when they finish. I like to think of your course like a bridge—your modules and lessons are simply the steps that help them cross over to that end destination. Then I share two super practical outlining strategies. First is the Post-it note brain dump (I learned this from Pat Flynn): set a timer for 15–20 minutes, write every lesson idea with zero judgment, and then group them into categories that become your modules. Second is my favorite digital version of that—using a Trello board. You create lists as modules, add cards as lesson ideas, drag and drop to organize, and even add notes, bullet points, and resources inside each card. I also show you how to get lesson ideas from your audience (polls, question boxes, pre-sales) and from Amazon three-star reviews, because those are absolute gold for what people still need. Finally, I answer the “how much should be free vs paid?” question. My rule is about a 20% overlap: I give the what and the why for free, but the step-by-step how is what people pay for—because that’s what saves them hours and hours of searching.
