I procrastinated way too long repotting them from their original nursery pots where they started as tiny rooted cuttings. They were definitely getting unhappy from being so root-bound… although not too unhappy, because a few of them managed to bloom right under my nose! Here are my TIPS when it comes to caring for HOYAS: 🪴 SOIL Hoyas love light, airy, fast-draining soil — nothing dense, heavy, or moisture-retentive. 💦 WATER Water when the top 2–3 inches are dry, or when leaves feel soft and flexible. They prefer drying out between waterings. ☀️ LIGHT Bright, indirect light is ideal — think: Near a window with filtered light East window (gentle morning sun) A few feet back from a south or west window Under a grow light 10–12 hours/day 🚿 HUMIDITY They thrive at 40-60% Boosts growth at 60-70% Avoid less than 30% 🌸 TRELLIS Hoyas bloom from mature, stable stems. When they’re climbing, supported, and getting more light, they mature faster and bloom sooner, which is why many growers trellis them to encourage flowering.
