DO NOT PROCRASTINATE when a plant is showing signs of distress. I still believe transferring it from hydroponics to soil was the right move. The roots had filled the entire pot, and it was no longer thriving the way it used to in its glory days. If you are considering transferring your plants between mediums, here are my tips/considerations. 🌱 Tips for Transferring Plants Between Growing Mediums (Hydroponics, semi-hydro, soil, moss, LECA): • Expect an adjustment period. Some leaf drop or slowed growth is normal. • Match moisture at first. Keep soil evenly moist for the first 1 to 2 weeks, then transition to your normal routine. • Handle roots gently. Rinse off old media and trim any mushy or dead roots. • Size the pot appropriately. Use a pot just slightly larger than the root system. • Use a well-draining mix. Airy soil helps roots adapt to oxygen. • Pause fertilizer. Wait 2 to 3 weeks before feeding. • Boost humidity if possible. This helps reduce transplant shock. • Watch the leaves. Mild wilting or yellowing can be normal, avoid overcorrecting. • Be patient. New roots in the new medium matter most.
