In this livestream I brought on my friend (and co-founder) Paco to show, from two business-owner perspectives, why I think classic PKM and note-taking apps are headed for a fast decline—and why the “Claude + Obsidian” hype misses the real shift. The pattern we’ve both lived is simple: you bounce between tools (Heptabase, Tana, Notion-style setups), you try the built-in AI layer, it’s not truly context-aware, and you end up back where you started. The breakthrough wasn’t finding the perfect app. It was flipping the stack: AI becomes the entry point, and your structure sits underneath so the model can actually understand your world. We walk through the mindset change: stop forcing yourself to fill fields and manually backlink everything, and instead capture in natural language through the LLM, then let the system distill, structure, and connect on your behalf. That’s how you get insights—not just retrieval. I also explain why I prefer a local, tool-agnostic foundation (often just a folder) and why Obsidian can become a form of lock-in once your “knowledge” depends on Obsidian-specific formatting and workflows. ICOR is the foundation that never cracks: once your ICOR structure is clear, you can swap tools, add MCP/API integrations, and build lightweight interfaces without breaking your workflow.
