Today I tested a £100 “smart” toaster from Amazon...the Keenstone digital touchscreen toaster and things got interesting very quickly. It promises memory settings, six modes (bread, bagel, waffle, pastry, English muffin and more), alongside futuristic touch controls. What it actually delivered was inconsistent browning, mysterious timing decisions, and a cancel button that sometimes just… didn’t wanna help me out! To be fair, it does have longer slots which are handy for homemade sourdough. But when you have to switch a toaster off at the wall because it won’t stop… that doesn't feel that smart to me. I also tested all six browning levels and brought back the toast battleship chart to see whether it could actually produce consistent shades.
