In this episode of Motorcycle Rewind we tackle one of the biggest weaknesses on old 6-volt motorcycles… dim gauge lights. The factory bulbs on this 1980 Honda CT110 have seen better days, so it’s time for an LED upgrade. Before diving into the install we take a quick look back at everything we’ve already done to transform this old Trail 110 into the ultimate mini moto-camping rig. From cleaning fuel tanks and changing fork oil to repairing cracked plastics and shake down rides, this little Honda has come a long way. Today’s mission is simple: Pull apart the gauge cluster, remove the old incandescent bulbs, install new LEDs, and hopefully avoid letting the magic smoke out of the wiring. The results? WAY brighter gauges, less power draw, and one more step toward making this CT110 ready for campground adventures and backroad exploring. These little upgrades may seem small, but they make a huge difference when you’re riding a vintage motorcycle after dark.
