That's the challenge in today's episode as we take on this 1969 Honda CD175. In the last episode we managed to free up the stuck engine, but now it's time to see if we can make some noise. The rules are simple: find spark, compression, and fuel before the timer runs out. Things start off promising when we quickly find spark, but that's when the problems begin. The carburetor looks like it spent the last 50 years at the bottom of the ocean. Instead of a full rebuild, we attempt the classic Motorcycle Rewind "spray and pray" method hoping to save some time. No luck. Next up is ignition timing, which immediately turns into another problem when we lose spark completely. With the clock ticking down, it's time for some emergency troubleshooting and a healthy dose of parts swapping from whatever old Honda parts happen to be lying around the shop. After chasing the issue around in circles, the culprit turns out to be something much simpler than expected: a loose point wire. Back in business! Unfortunately the carburetor still isn't interested in cooperating and when the timer finally expires, the old Honda remains silent. We may not have won the challenge, but we got this 51-year-sleeping Honda CD175 one big step closer to running again.
