Hello gamers ♡ in this episode I’m taking it all the way back to 2007 with The Sims 2: Castaway on PS2, aka one of my absolute favorite nostalgic Sims spin-offs. We start on a cruise with the girlies (and chat!) and do character creation first, because yes, I made a whole little ship crew: Miles Crossing (me), Dr. Flossy MD, Crafty Bee, Cheddy Cheese, Lady Sarah Sapphire, and Chelsea Moon Cap. I’m very serious about vibes, but also… I will remind you: your looks are not going to be maintained on a deserted island, so don’t get too attached to the outfit choices. It’s giving “girls trip” until it’s giving “oh [__], we crashed the boat.” Once gameplay starts, I jump into the survival tutorial: surveying the beach, gathering supplies, managing hunger/energy/bladder (rude), and building the emergency fire pit + a workbench so we can start crafting. I do the classic Castaway thing where I identify food by simply eating it and seeing if I throw up (science), attempt spear fishing (I am… not a natural), and wander into the jungle at night when I literally can’t see anything—aka the part that used to scare me so bad as a kid. We befriend monkeys with bananas, cook up what we can, and try to get a little base going while I keep saving because older consoles love to randomly die on me.
