About This Video

In this video I show you my complete setup to track Vidyard (BDR) video engagement in Google Analytics 4 using Google Tag Manager. When I checked Vidyard’s free resources, I didn’t find a proper step-by-step tracking process, so I decided to build it and share the exact workflow. First, I make sure GTM and GA4 are correctly connected with the website. Then I inject the Vidyard tracking script using a Custom HTML tag in GTM and fire it on Window Loaded, so all video interactions can push cleanly into the dataLayer. After that, I validate everything in GTM Preview (Tag Assistant) and confirm the custom event (BDR video) plus all parameters like videoProvider, videoAction, videoID, videoURL, visitorID, duration, label, time, and percent watched. Then I create Data Layer Variables in GTM one by one (I always copy the parameter names to avoid mismatch). Finally, I build a GA4 Event tag with a lowercase event name, map every parameter into GA4, and trigger it with a Custom Event trigger. I also verify the full payload inside GA4 DebugView so you can trust the reporting and later use it for remarketing and better attribution.
