Hi digital marketers, this is Md Faisal Amin. In this video I explain Google Tag Manager DataLayer from absolute zero to advanced level, but in very simple language. I start from the website screen (what you see as user) and I call it the presentation layer—image, text, button, price. Then I clear the biggest confusion: most beginners think if they can see product name/price on the page, GTM or GA4 can also “see” it. That’s wrong. Tracking tools do not see website like human—they don’t read design. They only understand data. Then I show how the “middleman” works: JavaScript collects correct values from website logic and prepares clean, structured, stable information. That data is pushed into the DataLayer (a data storage space inside the browser), and GTM simply listens for new data and events—it doesn’t search your website. I also break down objects (key/value) and arrays (lists) so you understand ecommerce items, multiple products, and why indexing starts 0,1,2. Finally, I explain key GTM preview events like DOM Ready and Window Loaded, and how each layer has one job: presentation shows, JavaScript prepares, DataLayer stores, GTM reads, and GA4 records.
