In this video I show you a production-ready way to track Vimeo video engagement using Google Tag Manager (GTM) and then send the full event data to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Meta (Facebook Pixel / Conversion API). My main focus is simple: first make sure your Vimeo events are pushing correctly into the GTM dataLayer, because if your dataLayer is okay, you can send any kind of event parameter to any platform according to your need. I set up a Custom HTML tag in GTM with the Vimeo listener code (trigger: DOM Ready). Then I verify in Tag Assistant that I’m receiving the Vimeo event plus the key parameters like content category, provider, action, video ID, label, URL, duration, time, percent watched, session ID, and post. After that I create Data Layer Variables for every parameter, build a GA4 Event tag using the same custom event name, and map all parameters into GA4 so you can see them in DebugView. Finally, I create a Meta tag (Pixel/CAPI setup) with the same trigger and send the same properties (category, action, ID, label, URL, duration, time, percent watched, session ID, post). This setup helps you get accurate engagement reporting, better retargeting audiences, and cleaner optimization signals for ads.
