About This Video

Hi digital marketers, this is Faisal. In this video I show you the complete Reddit Conversion API (CAPI) server-side tracking setup using Google Tag Manager (GTM). I also correct a common issue from the browser-side (pixel) setup where Reddit shows errors like product IDs not matching, and your event coverage/product coverage doesn’t look right. I fix it by properly sending product data (item_id, item_name, item_category) and—most importantly—adding a solid Conversion ID strategy, because Reddit deduplication depends on it. Then I move into the main part: server-side tracking with a GTM Server Container on a first-party/custom domain (I use instep.io). I use DataTag to pass all event parameters from browser to server because, in my testing, GA4 sometimes drops parameters for Reddit (even though it works fine for platforms like Google Ads, GA4 itself, and Meta). From the server container, I configure the Reddit Conversion API tag with access token + test code, map conversion_id, currency, email, and build the product array using Object Builder (product id, category, name). Finally, I validate everything inside GTM server logs and Reddit Events Manager so you can confirm both pixel + CAPI are firing correctly for better attribution and less data loss.
