About This Video

Hi digital marketers, this is Salamin (Md Faisal Amin). In this video I show you how I track Wistia video engagement using Google Tag Manager (GTM) and then send the same event data to GA4, Facebook (Meta Pixel/CAPI), and Google Ads for remarketing and clean attribution. I start from the GTM side where I use a Custom HTML tag (fire on all pages) to enable the Wistia listener and push video events into the dataLayer. Then I verify everything in Tag Assistant so I can see the event name and all parameters coming correctly. After that, I create the GTM Data Layer Variables one by one (I literally copy from Tag Assistant to avoid mistakes): videoProvider, videoAction, videoLabel, videoHashedID, videoDuration, videoTime, videoPercentWatched, and videoSessionId (you can also use videoUrl if you need). My main point is: the more relevant event parameters you pass, the easier your retargeting becomes. Finally, I build the Meta Pixel custom event tag and map all these parameters as object properties, set the trigger as the same custom event name, and test inside Facebook Events Manager to confirm browser-side is firing. If you’re doing server-side, I also explain why you should add an event_id to avoid duplication, and I remind you to keep the browser and server event name the same. For GA4, you add your Measurement ID, send the same “video” event with parameters, and then you can link GA4 with Google Ads to build audiences and retarget based on video engagement.
