About This Video

Hi digital marketers, this is Faisal Amin. In this video I show you my step-by-step process to set up a CookieYes consent banner and keep your Facebook (Meta) Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking working properly through Google Tag Manager. I start from the CookieYes CMP dashboard—create the account, choose the banner layout (light/dark), then select the GTM installation method and copy the key. After that, inside GTM I add the CookieYes template, paste the key, and make sure the tag fires on Consent Initialization (All Pages) so the consent signal is available before other tags try to fire. Then I go deeper into the real part: enabling GTM Consent Overview (the “shield”) and applying consent requirements per platform. For Meta/Facebook tags, I recommend adding the required consent for ads (ad_choice) so the pixel doesn’t fire when users deny advertising consent. For Google Ads, I show the consent settings and explain my preference: Google uses advanced modeling, so I usually don’t force extra consent requirements like basic mode unless your setup needs it. Finally, I test everything in Google Tag Assistant—reset/accept/reject consent and confirm that events like view_item and add_to_cart fire only when consent is granted.
