Good morning—I'm Maya, and in this video I’m sharing a calm morning routine that’s focused on healing and regulating your nervous system, especially if you’ve been living in that constant go-go mode. I talk through why our nervous system flips into fight-or-flight (even when it’s just everyday stress), and how that overactive feeling can leave us anxious, tired, and disconnected over time. So for this routine, I’m intentionally giving my body a break—and I’m inviting you to do the same. I start by not setting an alarm and giving myself a few moments before reaching for my phone. I do a few deep breaths (box breathing or a physiological sigh), thank the Lord first thing, and make small changes that reduce doom scrolling—like moving Instagram off my home screen and taking a social media break. I also share simple regulation habits like cold water on my face, making my bed for a clean space, eating a protein + fiber breakfast, and getting outside for a walk and sunlight to support circadian rhythm. Later, I do quiet time in the park (Philippians 2), browse discounted books, and end with grounding exercises for those moments when your heart rate spikes—using the five senses and physically pressing your feet into the ground. The biggest takeaway: notice your body’s stress signals, remind yourself you’re safe and loved, and take small steps that bring you back to the present.
