About This Video

This Japan travel vlog is basically me eating my way through Osaka and Kyoto… and then eating some more (in true Maya fashion). I start in Osaka around Dotonbori and head over to Kuromon Market—pro tip: it felt way emptier at night, but a lot of stalls were closed, and I could tell things were discounted because of that. I also share a few quick snack wins (yes, I tried the ā€œfirst chickyā€ situation and it was a pleasant surprise), plus some of the little ā€œJapan thingsā€ moments that make the trip feel so fun and chaotic in the best way. Then we move to Kyoto, where we spent most of our time. I’m very much an early-bird traveler here because the tourist spots get insanely crowded—so I’m out at 7 a.m. (and even 6:15 a.m. for Kiyomizu-dera) to actually get photos without people in them. I take you with me to popular areas, share what I skipped (like the long Arabica coffee line because we’re not really coffee drinkers), and what I loved—like a high-quality matcha spot (cash only), Gear Theater (nonverbal but so entertaining), and a newer TeamLab experience. I also show how I stayed connected with an eSIM so Google Maps and transit were way less stressful.
