About This Video

We’re back in Japan, and this time I’m taking you with me for a super chill 2-day Kyoto itinerary—focused on what’s actually worth doing (and eating) if you don’t want to sprint through a million tourist spots. I flew into KIX (Osaka) and the immigration line was honestly insane, so once I finally made it out, I booked the Haruka train to Kyoto through Klook and just scanned a QR code to go. I also stayed at Hyatt Place Kyoto and I can’t stress this enough: picking a hotel right next to a train station is truly life-changing after 16–20k steps a day. Day one is Nishiki Market, where I’m very intentional now because I’ve tried “everything” before—so I grab what I actually want (spicy furikake, sushi, a small matcha treat because I’m sensitive to caffeine). I also share a few real thoughts: Nishiki is touristy but convenient, Japanese knives are immaculate (just pricey in tourist areas), and some places literally run out of matcha because of overtourism. Then I do Don Quijote for beauty finds (Kiss Me Heroine Make), hunt down my husband’s Uniqlo pants, and end the day with pizza in Japan—which surprised me because the sauce tastes way more subtle and fresh. Day two is Arashiyama (yes, crowded, but worth seeing at least once), a cute matcha/mochi stop, and a cozy udon dinner picked using Tabelog (anything above 3 stars is solid). I wrap with easy Kyoto staples like 7-Eleven breakfasts (onigiri, kale smoothie) and Ichiran ramen—an introvert’s dream that’s affordable and genuinely good.
