The iFi Zen Can Signature 6XX and Zen DAC Signature are two new offerings from a recent collaboration between iFi and Drop. The Zen Can Signature is out to try and fix the 6XX with a bass boost and sound stage boost. The DAC completes the setup to be a nice stack. However, the price tag is a concern of mine and I fear iFi tried to shoot too high. Thanks for iFi for loaning me early samples of both for this review! Do not take these measurements as infallible, because they are flawed. There are some pieces of the measurements that are caused by flaws in the device itself such as a dip, peak, dip pattern from 4.5K-6K~ and some general imbalance due to sealing issues. https://imgur.com/a/3nkmUB8 Twitter: https://twitter.com/MaxSettingsYT Want to loan me a headphone or contact me? About This Video

In this video I review the new iFi x Drop stack made specifically for the Sennheiser HD6XX: the Zen Can Signature 6XX amp and the Zen DAC Signature. iFi loaned me early samples, and I even reshot the review after Drop updated the listing so I could give you the most accurate info. I break down the basics (both units are Drop exclusives, both hover around $249 each, and the whole stack is balanced via 4.4mm), then I go over the build—nice anodized “midnight blue” chassis, but the buttons on my samples felt kind of cheap and a bit inconsistent. The big story is the feature set. The amp’s HD6XX EQ button is genuinely interesting: it’s basically there to counter the HD6XX bass roll-off, and it actually worked better than I expected with surprisingly little distortion—getting real sub-bass extension out of a 600-series headphone is wild. The 3D setting is more subtle than other iFi implementations, but it can help a bit if you find the 6XX claustrophobic. The downside is the pricing: at roughly a $500 stack, you’re competing with heavy hitters (789, Asgard 3 + Modius, SP200, Element stack, etc.). I think the amp is the easier recommendation for certain use cases, but I struggle to recommend the DAC because of its softened/blunted transients and “warm bright” Burr-Brown character at this price.
