When homeschool planning starts to feel overwhelming, it’s usually not because you’re doing it “wrong”—it’s because you’re trying to plan everything at once. In this video, I show you the simple Saturday routine I use to plan our homeschool week in a way that feels realistic, flexible, and actually sustainable. This is not an aesthetic “plan with me.” It’s what I really do to reduce stress, avoid surprises, and cut down on the decision fatigue that can make school days feel heavier than they need to be. I walk you through why I always close out the previous week before I plan a new one, and why I check our family calendar before I ever open a curriculum guide. Then I plan one subject at a time (instead of trying to map the whole week all at once), which keeps me from spiraling into overwhelm. I also show a practical example of looking ahead at biology labs so I can prep early—especially by using lab kits to simplify the process. And I preview writing assignments ahead of time so I’m not caught off guard midweek. My goal isn’t a perfect week—it’s clarity, flexibility, and fewer decisions when Monday comes.
