In this video, I’m tackling a homeschool myth that creates so much unnecessary stress—especially for moms who genuinely want to be responsible. The lie sounds wise at first: if your child isn’t keeping pace with the system’s timeline, you’re failing them. But I want to help you separate real problems from artificial pressure. A high schooler who can’t read is a real issue that needs attention. A 7-year-old who needs more time in phonics before moving to chapter books? That’s development, not failure. I also talk through the fear so many of us carry about transcripts and college—because I hear it constantly: “What if I mess this up?” I share what colleges actually look for, how I prepared my kids for high school, and why preparation doesn’t require you to participate in the system you left for a reason. You can stay organized and keep good records without becoming institutional. Faithfulness to your child is not the same thing as conformity to a timeline, and you don’t have to rejoin the system to prove you’re doing a good job.
